Postponed till 1st – 10th March 2025
The 2024 Tasmanian Masters Games now to be held in 2025
“Faced with less than expected registrations the Tasmanian Masters Games committee has made the hard decision, but the right decision to postpone the Games,” said Steve Martin, President Tasmanian Masters Games. “The 2024 Games will now be held 1st March – 10th March 2025 across northern Tasmania with the exception of pickleball, woodchopping, tennis, small bore & air rifle who have decided to still host their events at the scheduled times and dates.”
Commencing in 2022, the Tasmanian Masters Games is a biennial multi-sport event that is open to anyone and was to be conducted October this year. The only criteria to compete in the Games is that you must meet the minimum age requirement, which in most sports is 30+ years. It does not impose qualifying standards and welcomes participants from all over the world. The variety of sports on offer provides the opportunity for participants to try a new sport, compete in multiple sports during the week and register as an individual or in a team.
“The aim is to provide an event that provides a competition worthy of becoming a Tasmanian Masters Games medalist, a competition where participants can also meet and socialise with other competitors from around the nation and internationally,” said Mr. Martin. “The decision to postpone will enable the event to have a better opportunity to achieve that as well as attract more competitors and hopefully other sports.”
As mentioned pickleball, woodchopping, tennis, smallbore & air rifle will be the only exceptions as they have reached their quotas to provide a competition and will be still held this year on their chosen dates, supported by the Tasmanian Masters Games.
“March 2025 was chosen as the Games will now coincide with some other great events being held including the Devonport Regatta, Sheffield’s Steamfest, Gowrie Park Rodeo, thoroughbred racing at Devonport Racecourse and will provide even more reason for participants to visit,” said Mr. Martin.
“All registered competitors will receive a full refund with the opportunity to register for the March Games in the very near future,” said Mr. Martin.
