The Port Sorell area has two 9-hole courses at Shearwater and Thirlstane.
Once you’ve worked up a thirst you’ll be spoilt for choice with the local restaurants and twice crowned Tourism Tasmania’s ‘Best Cellar Door’ – Ghost Rock Vineyard. Enjoy a tasting and take in the striking views of the rolling countryside and Bass Strait.
Just across the Rubicon River is Narawntapu National Park with opportunities to encounter kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and Tasmanian devils. At dusk, keep an eye out for the little penguins making their way up the beach.
For the nature lovers, take a walk in 40 acres of bushland at nearby Sykes Sanctuary and experience the local birdlife.
Visit nearby Shearwater, Hawley Beach and Freers Beach, where at low tide you can walk to Penguin Island and Rabbit Island.
